Helping Mothers Start Strong

A healthy pregnancy is an important first step toward a healthy birth. But many women in Albania do not have access to the practical information and support they need.

The Mother & Child Hospital Foundation works alongside healthcare professionals to fill that gap.

Since 2014, we have provided free prenatal classes to expectant mothers in Tirana, including women receiving care at Queen Geraldine and Koço Gliozheni Maternity hospitals. Mothers learn about preparing for birth, breastfeeding, newborn care, warning signs, and how to feel more confident bringing their baby home.

More than 1,500 expectant mothers have participated in our prenatal classes every year.

Hope for Life

Supporting Families in the NICU

Having a premature or critically ill baby can be frightening and overwhelming. Parents need more than medical care for their baby—they need information, guidance, emotional support, and hope.

The Mother & Child Hospital Foundation established Hope for Life, the first program in Albania specifically designed to support parents of babies in neonatal intensive care.

Through the program, parents receive guidance about their baby’s care, practical tools for coping, and support from healthcare professionals and others who understand what they are experiencing.

We believe that caring for a premature baby means caring for the whole family.
