Better health for mothers and babies requires more than medical care. It also requires a community that values women, protects children, and is willing to talk openly about difficult issues.

The Mother & Child Hospital Foundation uses education, public awareness campaigns, storytelling, and partnerships to bring important issues affecting mothers and children into the public conversation.

Our campaigns have addressed issues including the value of mothers and daughters, gender-based violence, and gender-selective abortion.

In 2018, our #CelebrateHer campaign brought young photographers together to celebrate their mothers and highlight the everyday ways mothers shape the lives of their children.

That same year, we organized a public flash mob in Tirana to raise awareness about gender-selective abortion.

In 2022, we launched #TjetërHerëMeVajzë (“Next time, may it be a girl!”), turning a familiar cultural message about preferring sons on its head and using music and storytelling to celebrate the value of daughters.
